Which airports are closest to
the tournament site?
A:
Las Americas International
Airport (SDQ) and La Romana
Airport (LRM). See
transportation.
Q:
How do I get from the airport to
the hotel?
A:
Shuttle bus service or taxi. See
transportation.
Q: At what time does the
tournament end on Sunday?
A: Open finals will start at
4:00 PM and will end at 5:45 PM.
Mixed finals will start at 2:00
PM and will end at 3:45 PM.
Q: What is the basic itinerary
for the PAUCC?
A: Thursday night: Registration;
Captain’s meeting; Welcome party
Friday: Games starting at 9 AM,
ending at 6 PM; Party
Saturday: Games starting at 9
AM, ending at 6 PM; Trading
night; Party
Sunday: Games starting at 9 AM;
Finals Starting at 2 PM; Awards
presentation at 6 PM
Q: Will there be food and
beverage on the fields?
A: Yes, we will have water
available on each field and some
fruit for each team.
Q: How far are the fields from
the hotel? Is transportation
provided for?
A: Fields are a few minutes
away. There will be a shuttle
bus service. See transportation.
Q: How far is the beach from the
tournament site?
A: The resort is located by the
beach. You may have access to
the beach whenever you are in
the hotel, but not at the
fields.
Q: How far is the grocery store
from the tournament site?
A: There are grocery stores
inside the resort area. However,
the resort is all inclusive, so
we don’t anticipate that you
will need to buy any groceries.
Q: Where do I go on Thursday
night once I arrive at the
hotel?
A: You may go register at the
front desk and then go leave
your luggage in your room. We
will have a welcome gathering on
Thursday evening, location TBD.
Q: Will there be an introductory
meeting prior to the start of
the tournament?
A: Yes. There will be a
captains’ meeting on Thursday at
8:30 PM, where we will go over
the format of the tournament,
the general rules of conduct and
address any logistical questions
you might have.
Q: Could you please tell me more
about the parties?
A: Excellent music, great drinks
(18+) and awesome people will
make the best Ultimate parties
ever!
Q: Which rules will be used?
A: WFDF 2009 rules.
Q: What is the roster limit?
A: According to WFDF rules,
roster limits will be 14-28
players.
Q: What will the weather be
like?
A: Deliciously warm-to-hot,
sunny and humid. There’s always
a chance for rain, but
historically, the precipitation
averages for the month of July
are rather low. You should bring
or purchase here LOTS of
sunscreen and a hat.
Q: Are there many mosquitoes and
other bugs?
A: It is a tropical island, so,
yes, you may encounter
mosquitoes. You may consider
purchasing repellent here or
bringing your own.
Q: Is there a risk of
contracting malaria?
A: According to the CDC, there
is no known risk for malaria in
the tournament area. If you have
other health concerns, please
check the CDC’s Traveler’s
Health page for the Dominican
Republic.
Q: Should I bring any gifts?
A: We encourage teams to bring a
gift for each of those teams
against which they will play.
Something related to your
country of origin or your team’s
theme usually works great (be
creative!).
Q: Will there be a “trading
night”?
A: On Saturday night we will
have a toast followed by a
party. We encourage you to bring
shirts and other merchandise you
would like to trade with other
teams.
Q: Will there be merchandise for
sale?
A: Yes. There will be shirts and
other tournament merchandise for
sale at the fields.
Q: Will my team be allowed to
sell our own merchandise?
